Water Resistant
DWR
 (durable water repellent) fabric finish repels light rain and snow and decreases dry times. When DWR is used in conjunction with a waterproof/breathable barrier, the DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.

Recycled Nylon
Although Patagonia has been using recycled polyester in our garments for 20 years, for some reason locked deep in polymer chemistry, nylon is more difficult to recycle than polyester. After years of research, development, and testing, we’re finally finding some recycled nylon fibers that are suitable for apparel.

Some of the recycled nylon we use comes from post-industrial waste fiber, yarn collected from a spinning factory, and waste from the weaving mills that can be processed into reusable nylon fiber.

Patagonia is diligently searching for a success story with recycled nylon. The challenge lies ahead of us, and we’re committed to discovering the best methods to recycle nylon fiber, but it appears this evolution will take many years.

Built for quick forays into the sidecountry or backcountry, the SnowDrifter has a close-fitting, slim profile design with a clamshell-style opening that provides fast access to a dedicated compartment for snow safety tools. Sized to carry extra layers, extra calories and other short-tour essentials, it also provides multiple carry options with front compression straps for boards and skis, and side compression straps for skis; all have locking cam buckles. A separate microfleece-lined pocket keeps your goggles handy and protected from sharp edges. The clean suspension system incorporates heat-venting, snow-sloughing Air Flow mesh on the shoulder straps and back panel for all-day carrying comfort; an insulated pocket on the shoulder harness prevents hydration systems from freezing. The top-mounted haul handle is reinforced and sized for gloves. Made from burly 420-denier 100% nylon Cordura® plain weave for puncture- and abrasion-resistance, with a tough 940-denier 100% nylon Cordura Ballistic base with polyurethane coating. Both fabrics have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.
